Caleb.s Quiet Book

A sweet little two year old boy, whom we know through our church, was recently diagnosed with cancer.  Because he would be spending time in the hospital, I made this smaller quiet book for him.  It only took about ten hours, and I made the bulk of it in one night while up with a sick child.  I'd almost forgotten how much you can accomplish when there's little interruption!

The strip of polka dot fabric across the front is cut from pinwale corduroy.  It adds a nice texture.
The pocket on the left (inside front cover) holds the clothes for the snowman.  He also can sport a western outfit!
The pumpkin opens from the top and holds a variety of mouths and eyes to use for decorating.
The shapes are matched to a black duplicated image and adhere with velcro.

The tank is made from thin vinyl with a strip of bias tape at the top to give it some stability.  I changed up the tee-pee pattern to make it a circus tent.  Unzip the front and see the monkey (applique) sewn inside!
The beads are strung on middy braid.  The owl's eyes snap on.

The pen and paper are from The Dollar Store.  The weaving strips are cut from heavy felt which is sold in limited colors (4) on the bolt. I think that the weaving page is best placed at the end of the book so that it can lay flat.
